Hi there, welcome to The Slowpoke. We’re a new online journal covering all things to do with living life slowly, sustainably, beautifully and simply.

Here we’ll be featuring interviews with local Australian makers, growers, educators and change-makers – people who are doing things authentically and sustainably within all realms of life, from food, gardens, homes, wellbeing, travel, style and community. From the folks who are teaching permaculture to those who are making compassionate, healthy and real homemade food.

We will feature helpful ‘how-to’s from experts across all these facets, whether it’s to guide you on making your first batch of sauerkraut or on dying fabric with natural indigo. We’ll feature tasty and healthy plant-based recipes. Ideas for your home and garden. Local and genuine travel spots. Visits to inspiring work places and homes. You’ll find us here on weekdays – we think weekends are for family, friends, making, cooking, creating and laughing – and we hope you do too.

Most importantly, The Slowpoke website is a respite from the rat race, a place to be inspired and educated on a lifestyle that is meaningful, slow and sustainable. Thanks for becoming a part of our community.

hmm… just found you mentioned on another thread I follow.. you seem to have a similar philosophy to us here in East Gippsland: we work for our local Slow Food group, cook ,preserve, pickle, ferment and forage together and have food exchanges… and theres only a handfu of us in our region! Most of the like minded tribes seem to be around Kiama, Orange, Noosa or Healesville, Daylesford,Beechworth… hoping more like minded people will move here.

    Hi Emma and Luisa,
Firstly, I love what you’re doing. I came across your lovely Instagram gallery this week and then noticed last night that it’s based around this online journal. And then I noticed your name Emma. It seems I am drawn to the same things as you, as AG Outdoor is my favourite travel mag and I’m also a frequent reader of Green Lifestyle.
In this current media climate, what you’re doing should be a huge success. There is less space in traditional media for quality feature journalism, so it is lovely to find it here.
Keep up the good work. You now have a dedicated reader!

Thanks for the kind words Jen – and sounds like we really do love the same lifestyle! Glad to hear you’re enjoying The Slowpoke. :) Emma
