VEGE THREADS SUMMER 14/15

We each of us get up and get dressed in the morning. And just as we decide whether to be conscious of what we eat, what we use in our gardens, what we put on our skin – being more socially and health conscious of what we put on our bodies is increasingly thrown in the mix.

As our approach to clothing slowly becomes more aware, locally and ethically focussed brands are thriving, and Vege Threads is among them. We brought their naturally-dyed, organic and ethically-made basics to you a few months ago, and now, as the weather warms, the new Australian-owned brand is gearing up to launch their summer range.

Focussing again on a range that is well-made, accessible to all ages and able to tie in so seamlessly with what you already have, Vege Threads have built on the transeasonal range created when they launched just last year, continuing with their raw and minimal aesthetic. This time around, with half of their range still made ethically in Indonesia, a good chunk of their range is made locally, using Australian-made organic cotton.

Founder, Amy Roberts, says, “We’ve started small but as we are growing, we are able to invest in better methods and localising as much as possible. At this stage we source certified materials, work with plant dyes and organic non toxic dyes and are moving towards launching our Australian-made collection.”

“In an ideal world we would all stop to think where something came from or who made it, but unfortunately for so long that information hasn’t been accessible. We are now entering a time where consumers are asking more questions and that’s really important.  It’s very easy to succumb to ‘trends’ and wanting new things. I don’t think that’s going to change so taking the time to source new items that are supporting cleaner industries. This could be brands that are fair-trade, organic, eco friendly, local or have a social conscience, like non for profits.”

Vege Threads spring/summer 14/15 range will go on sale on www.vegethreads.com in the coming month.
